John 11:1–45 · The Raising of Lazarus
Join us as we sit with the Church Fathers in John 11:1–45, where Jesus hears that the friend He loves is dying — and stays where He is. Two days of silence. Four days in the tomb. And then, to a grieving woman armed with perfectly correct doctrine, five words that tower over the whole Gospel: “I AM the resurrection and the life.” With the Church Fathers as our guides, we walk through the seventh and greatest sign — the delay that was love in disguise, the God who weeps at a tomb He is about to empty, the confession Martha makes on behalf of a brother who cannot answer, and the voice that spoke at creation calling one dead man by name so that every grave would learn its days are numbered. The resurrection is not an event on a calendar. It is a Person standing in the road — and He is still asking: Do you believe this?
